The sketch inspiration for this card came from Nikki over at A Spoon Full of Sugar (#82), and let me tell you it was a fun sketch! The Crafty Creations Challenge was to make the New Year glitter, so I added some stickles to the pretty present on my card. Simon Says..."PARTY", and you don't have to tell me that one more than once!

All of the paper/sticker/letter elements I used on the card came from Studio 8's Birthday Collection. I got it all from Kindred Collections Scrapbooking. The iridescent sequins are from Prima and the brads are from my stash.

That's right, Walmart has put out their boxes of heart-shaped candies so I figured I might as well jump on the Valentine's Day bandwagon!

The sketch inspiration for this card comes from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #50. I used the metallic tree from Colorbok's Friendly Forest rubons for the 2 Red Bananas tree challenge. That Hearts Aflutter sparkle card stock is from Friskars Cloud 9 Designs Sweetheart Collection. Not sure you can see it sparkling in this photo!

Please excuse my long holiday absence, things just get out of control here when all the kids are home to celebrate!!

I created this card using Andrea's sketch (Christmas and Birthday Cards #52) for inspiration. It also meets the criteria for the Belli Challenge #81, which was to use tags, and the Crazy 4 Challenges polka dots challenge.

I wish everyone the best in 2010 and here's to hoping I can get cards posted regularly again!!

Finally...some time & some mojo and a new card! The hustle of the holidays has started and while I thought I'd have some time to create over Thanksgiving, that obviously just did not happen. But, I got some inspiration from the Sweet Sunday sketch and am excited to be back in the game!

This card meets the criteria for two color challenges, Color Throwdown #71 & the Cupcake Craft Challenge. I followed the Peachy Keen recipe (my Stampin' Up Merry Moments DSP has stripes & dots, I used the scalloped border punch, and my stamped image is from Stampin Up's Event Full set)and used a charm like Simon Says!

That's right...SEVEN challenges! OK, well three of the challenge blogs I play at are looking for digital images & just look at this cute guy I found on Dawn Moore's Lost in Paper Scraps site!! Adorable, huh? He lets me play along with the Papertake Weekly & Cupcake Craft Challenge this week, as well as the weekly challenge over at the CardMaker message board (where the colors to go along with a digital image are red, green & brown). Cute Card Thursday's challenge was to use glitter, Crafty Creations challenge was to use snow, and the Belli Challenge was to use a Christmas embellishment. Oh, and last but not least because without the sketch what would my card be...I got my inspiration from Karin's sketch at Just Christmas & Birthday Cards.

The layout inspiration for this card came from Card Positioning Systems #140. Cute Card Thursday's challenge was to use primary colors...red, yellow & blue. My blue isn't the traditional primary blue, but I really like the sky blue & sunny yellow summer theme. Sort of my "last hurrah" for the season! One Stop Craft challenge is a card for kids and I think this one is appropriate for kids of all ages. I mean, who doesn't like to catch fireflies??

Crazy 4 Challenges wants to see three geometric shapes on a card...I've got several rectangles, lots of circles/dots and one square peeking out from behind my flower. The Peachy Keen "recipe" said to use pink & brown, 1 stamped image, 1 piece of ribbon and glitter (stickles). And I wrapped it all up by using the Sweet Sunday Sketch #41.

Halloween is in the air (or some might say among us, if Janae is reading this) at both Simon Says and A Spoon Full of Sugar this week! While the PPA11 color challenge fit right into that theme...Perfect Plum, Old Olive & Pumpkin Pie. I "cheated" (Eek!!) some and used up more of the leftover wedding Elegant Eggplant for my card base, but the stripes on my orange ribbon are very nearly Perfect Plum. This is the stamp set I plan to use for my Christmas cards this year, and since I told myself I'd get those done in October and I can see October 1st on my calendar I'd better get busy!!

I made this darling envelope album last week at Sarah's Technique class and then when I got home realized I'd completed the perfect project for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge! I chose yellow because it's my favorite color and got lucky that it fit with black & yellow theme at CCT. While the "album" is not technically a card, you could stamp a sentiment on the front and have a very unique card/gift. By the way, you can't tell from the photos but the felt we used to make two of our flowers was "snake skin", how neat is that?

I had a lot of fun with this card, and met the requirements for several challenges! The sketch I used for inspiration was from Paper Take Weekly. Ann challenged us to use basket weaving on our project, so I got out those scraps of Old Olive from the wedding and made a "mat" of those. Leaves were the theme for the Fashionista #4 challenge, and also the challenge at CardMaker magazine Card Swaps message board. I used three of the colors from Color Throwdown #61, which were also the colors in the PPA #9 Inspirtation challenge. The image & sentiment are both from Stampin' Up's Basket Full of Fun set.

A Note For You

I'm not sure if this sketch or this color combo was the bigger challenge...I'm going with the color combo, because I didn't have any patterned paper to work with, and you all know how I love my patterened paper! I just could not for the life of me figure out how to tie the colors for Stacey's Stamping Stage Curtain Call #4 together. She's looking for Brilliant Blue, Pixie Pink, Real Red & Whisper White. Then right before my eyes appeared these red & pink gemstone flower brads from Spare Parts and I was in business! My sketch inspiration is from Card Positioning Systems, and was an equally challenging sketch. The three elements on the diagonal just felt like it left me hanging, but when I added the pink ribbon on the other diagonal I felt a bit more complete.

A Sweet & Yummy Kid's Birthday Card

When that kid is my niece and she's all "cuteness", this color combo is the yummiest and the sketch is the sweetest!

I used the OCC Color Challenge (lt. pink, hot pink, white & chocolate chip) to put together my card for the Corrosive Challenge (Kids Birthday) this week. The square of patterned paper and the flower came to me in a card kit from Jane from one of the swaps over at the CardMaker magazine Card Swaps message board. Cosmo Cricket made the "with love" & "cuteness" stickers, from their Honey Pie line. Oh, and let's not forget the sketch that inspired me was the Sweet Sunday Sketch #36. What a fun sketch this was to work with!!

Keepin' It Simple, Sweetie

The PPA challenge this week is to make a card with minimal layers & embellishments, that you can whip up in just a few minutes. This card is a perfect example of Keepin' It Simple! The hardest thing about it is the ribbon and notice I didn't tie a bow! The white layer was simple, as I didn't have to worry about placement of the swirly stamp and then I popped it on with pop dots, so didn't even need a tape runner. It was so simple that I decided I had time to coordinate the envelope with the easy to use swirly stamp!

Three people in this family share the initials WLR...so I'm not sure who will get this birthday card, but then they're kind of big deals every day too! I used the Just Christmas and Birthday Cards #45 Sketch for this card. For the Fashionista #3 Challenge, I've used lime green, white & black polka dots. And over at One Stop Craft Challenges, they're playing "beary nice" and looking for cards with bears.
The black & white polka dot paper is from Bo Bunny, the lime green letters are Bubble-A-Bilities, and the bear image and sentiment are both from Stampin Up's Cute & Cuddly set.

Poka Dot Punches in a Recipe

This is another one of those sketches that I've been staring at for almost a week...it comes from The Corrosive Challenge and I originally created my card with the "ribbon" running down the left side, but when I went to photograph is I just liked the top opening view better! Strange how sometimes things work out like that...

Then I took Ann's advice to Think Pink & Black over at her Creative Nook. I'm faking it with the Papertake Weekly Challenge, the "ribbon" is obviously not ribbon but a sticker strip whose manufacturer I can't recall right now but I got in an order from PeachyCheap.com. And I cooked this all up using the recipe over at Simon Says ! The recipe said to use 3 embellishments, 2 papers, and 1 image on your creation. My embellishments are the fake ribbon, the flower punches (part of a card kit from Jane over at the CardMaker magazine Card Swaps message board), and that very adorable pink brad which has swirlies on it. The brad is from Queen & Co. and I got it when I went to the convention in Tulsa. The two papers I used are from Bo Bunny's Alissa line, Kissable & Love You. And my one image is from Stampin Up's Polka Dot Punches!

Whoo Says Fall is in the Air!?!

An Autumn theme is the subject of several challenges out there, and I'm loving owls on my cards these days so I thought I'd use this little guy on a card and knock out three challenges! You may or may not have missed me the past few days...I just had no mojo. *sniff* But I had several sketches sitting here and got busy this morning, so I'm actually ready to do a marathon of posting in order to get these cards in to some challenges.

Anyway, back to Mr. Owl (who came to me in a package of card candy from Margaret, over on the CardMaker magazine Card Swaps message board)...I just put him on a brown base and added a couple of scalloped edges of Fancy Pants Delight in the Potpourri pattern. He's going to be entering two Fall challenges, first A Spoonful of Sugar #69 Fall Into Autumn and also Belli #74. I got my sketch from CPS, where their challenge #133 is being sponsored by Zva Creative.

In fact, I do believe this was my first ever attempt at embossing...well, heat embossing that is. Both the dove and the swirl on the card base are heat embossed.

This sketch and this color combination were the most fun to work with! I had a blast making this card. When I saw the sketch at A Spoon Full of Sugar I thought to myself "too busy", and just wasn't quite sure how to approach it. But the Color Throwdown of Pumpkin Pie, Close to Cocoa & Ruby Red didn't cause me to bat an eye...even tho' orange is not at the top of my favorite color list I seem to work with it a lot, and have grown to love it for card making purposes. The patterned paper is from Fancy Pants, Delight Spice. The sentiment is Stampin' Up A Little Birdie Told Me. And I am absolutely in love with these Friendly Forest foil rub-ons from Colorbok!! Oh, if you're wondering "whooo" is the best...this card is for my daughter Whitney, she's got a thing for owls. She's just begun her second year of Vet School and might need an encouraging word in the form of a card from Mom. (Be sure to be on the lookout in the next few days...I have another darling daughter, so I'll have to be creating another "best" card!)

Of course my first thought when I read the Cupcake Craft Challenge was to use red, white & blue, was "stars & stripes" and all things patriotic. But then, I was in a mood to go out on a limb! So, I went with a lighter blue and steered clear of all things patriotic. Then I figured while I was out there on the limb anyway, I might as well attempt the the sketch over at Just Christmas and Birthday cards. All those circles and swirls really threw me for a loop!! The blue & white elements on this card are out of that Target $1 bin set...I'm telling you, that's been one of my favorite purchases of the summer! The square red brads were another "deal" from the Tulsa scrapbook convention. And the flowers are looking glass stickers from Making Memories. My birthday sentiment is from Stamping Up's Blooming With Happiness set.

Happy Labor Day! I hope the most labor any of you have to do is create a card. Ella & Dizzy inspired this week's color challenge over at Jazzy Inspirtaions, the colors of that poster are light blue, purple & white. My sketch inspiration comes from Card Positioning Systems. I was glad to have an opporunity to use up more of that Elegant Eggplant cardstock left over from wedding projects! I punched two hearts out of some patterned paper from a kit from Lora swapped at CardMaker magazine Card Swaps message board. The stamped sentiment came from another swap on the message board and is from Terrie. I added some Elegant Eggplant and some Bashful Blue with my blender pen (since I'm still too cheap to buy markers), along with a dot of Crytal Effects in the center of the flowers to make the image fit the color challenge.

I had so much fun making this card! It's based on Nikki's sketch over at One Stop Craft Challenge. Probably the reason the card was so much fun is because it's a shower card for my TAC Angel, who is anxiously awaiting Baby Lily's arrival! I bet you can't guess what Lily's room look like...brown & pink with a bird painted on the wall. I always love it when I have the perfect stamp set for someone's card! I used two Stampin' Up sets, A Little Birdie Told Me and Baby Talk. For the background flowers I used a fun TAC set called Blooming Builders. Other supplies I used include the pink patterned papers & dotted ribbon, which came from Jane in a CardMaker magazine Card Swaps message board kit swap. And probably my favorite element is the pink, flocked flower ribbon from Prima. I don't normally choose flocked stuff, but this was in a bargain package and when I got to thinking about this card for Lily I figured "what the heck"...and lo & behold, I fell in love with it!!

Crafty Creations Challenge #31

Happy Weekend! I'm breathing a sigh of relief that another week of school is over and that it's a long weekend. My class is really full of a lot of little challenges this year. *sigh*
The challenge over at Crafty Creations this week is to use three or more patterned papers. Well, if you know me that was not even a stretch! I am so totally addicted to patterned paper it isn't even funny. Anyway, I thought of this card that was my project at that shoebox swap I went to with Sarah & Heather. We did that right after the wedding and I was sitting on all this Old Olive DSP (Stampin' Up) that was left over from the various wedding projects, and figured I'd let those girls help me use it up. (Of course, we barely made a dent in it, so if anyone needs some Old Olive DSP scraps...I'm your contact!) Now I got the idea for this card from Andrea Walford's blog and from there you can follow her link to yet another similar card. I did change the bow placement, but of course the basic idea for the card is right there! Btw, Andrea does some amazing card making...hers was one of the first blogs I discovered and she continually amazes me with her creativity!

The design team over at ASFOS are looking for distressing on cards this week. I have this card to share from a shoebox share I went to with Sarah and her friend Heather. This is the card that Heather brought for us to make that evening...thanks Heather! I'm kind of in a phase of making "non event" cards, so I didn't put any type of sentiment on this one so that I can use it whenever the mood strikes. I do know that I really like the blue & orange color combo and should probably pull these two colors out together again real soon!

Simon Says...Back to School

What an appropriate theme the team over at Simon Says came up with this week! It was back to school for me this week. A time I look forward to for the simple fact that I love new school supplies! And it's fun to get the year started with a new group of Smarties, tho' that part of this time of year is rather exhausting...I always forget what "babies" they are when they start Kindergarten. So, I altered this tin as a part of a swap/challenge during the Christmas in July Crop over at CardMaker magazine Card Swaps message board. Lora enticed us to sign up for the swap...then announced the theme, which was to alter a tin to depict our favorite childhood toy. Well, I loved to play school and I had to have school supplies for that. *grin* These three views of my tin show the top, front side & inside (the goodies displayed with the tin were included for my partner in the swap...and I went with the snowflake theme for them since not everyone is as nuts about school supplies as I am)! The paper I used to alter my tin is from Stampin' Up's Summer Picnic DSP.

A Spoon Full of Sugar #66

Sonja's sketch over at A Spoon Full of Sugar was probably the most fun sketch I've ever worked on! All those opportunities to use different patterns of paper, just sent me over the edge of happiness. This sketch was perfect to use some of my new Basic Grey Lemonade papers. I picked those up in Tulsa on Saturday when I went to my first scrapbook convention...don't think I wasn't in heaven and wandering about with my mouth hanging open!! Anyway, the patterns I used on this card starting in the top left corner and working clockwise are Sundress, Picnic Table, Dandelion (my personal favorite), and Honeybee. Of course, I've used the Blooming With Happiness stamp set from Stampin' Up, and two of the yellow Square Fire rhinestone brads (which were on special as a deal of the week in July) as flower centers. Again, this was just a FUN card to make!!

Speaking of fun, I found another fun blog...Steph stopped by to see the Jazzy Inspirations card I posted yesterday and left a nice comment. So, I hopped over to look at her blog only to discover that she's offering some nice blog candy right now. Head on over to Where'd All My Money Go?! and see for yourself what a great blog she has. I signed up right away to be a follower...and not just cuz she offered blog candy. Steph is a very talented card maker & how could I resist making a connection with another paper crafting addict?? Only one more day of the first week of school left! What a week...

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge - #32

I'm back...had to take a little break to get geared up for the first day of school, but things are underway now and I had a little bit of time for card making last night. Here's what I came up with for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #32.

This was a challenge for me because circles are not my thing...I don't have circle punches, so it's difficult for me to get excited about circles (even halves of them)! I'm also using this for Lori's color challenge which is this week's challenge over at CardMaker magazine Card Swaps message board. When I read "green, red & black"...I told myself I would not do Christmas, so I've got a fun late summer card instead. The gingham circle and the watermelon border are both out of a package of goodies I got out of the Target $1 bin!

Cute Card Thursday - Challenge 74 - Lazy Dayz!

The gals over at Cute Card Thursday are looking for summery cards this week. And I just happened to make one last night at a Technique Class I attended! We used a masking technique to make this bright, summertime border. This was my first time to try masking...and like everything else, I love it! I especially loved the versatility...the same ink pads could've been used to make a springtime card by just sponging the colors on lighter for a more pastel effect. I'll be using this card for a baby shower on Sunday...they're expecting a little girl, so I went heavier on the pink, but blue or green could also have been the focue. Just lots of options!!

Anything But A Card - PPA #4

I was so excited to see the Anything But A Card Challenge at PPA this week! Because any of you who know me at all know that I just finished putting together my son's wedding...and so much of it was "anything but a card". For those of you who don't know me, my son's wedding was the driving force behind my passion for card making. I decided right after the engagement that I wanted to MAKE the rehearsal dinner invitations. Well, I had no idea where to start...but one thing led to another and before I knew what had hit me I was addicted to stamping and card making. (That's the very short version of a long story!) One part of the story tho' does have to do with me rushing over to see the engaged couple with two sheets of card stock..."Which will it be, Kiwi Kiss or Old Olive?" As I was leaving my son looked at the bride-to-be and asked, "Did she just come over here to show you construction paper?" LOL Anyway, before all was said and done the wedding looked like something designed for a Stampin' Up photo shoot...and all done up in Old Olive and Elegant Eggplant!! The theme of the reception was grapes/wine, thus those two colors. Anyway, in addition to the rehearsal dinner invitations and two of these gorgeous boxes (one for cards & one for advice)...I also made coordinating wine tags, pew cones, and favor bags! Good Tuesday morning! Today is my last official day of summer vacation, but like yesterday I'll be in my classroom working on tasks that should've been completed long ago. yikes!

Here's a pretty purple card I put together recently. I had these So Precious rub-ons from Cosmo Cricket in my stash and they were just begging to be used. The patterned paper came from Lora, part of a card kit swap over at CardMaker magazine Card Swaps message board.

I glittered up a stamp from Stampin' Up's Event Full set for the front of the card and inside I stamped a Birthday sentiment from Stampin' Up's Something to Celebrate stamp.

One Stop Craft Challenge #42 - Pink & Black

I'm home from a wonderful trip to Tucson, but feeling very overwhelmed at everything that needs to be accomplished! Whitney and I spent a couple of hours in my classroom yesterday afternoon hanging things on the wall, but I am not anywhere near ready for school to start...HELP!

Over at One Stop Craft Challenge they're looking for cards in pink & black for their #42 challenge. I just happened to have this wedding card in my stack after my fairly recent afternoon of card making with Janae. Though the more I look at this card, it just may end up being Wayne's birthday/anniversary card...which is today. He's turning 49 and we've been married 28 wonderful years!!

This is a very simple card using basic cardstock and a little bit of black & white patterned paper. I'm sure you've all got similar stuff in your stashes! I borrowed the pretty heart stamp from Janae, but more than likely it's from Stampin' Up...she's an SU kind of girl. I put the pink accented with black & white scallops inside to facilitate the writing of a message...since whenever I have a dark card I can never find a silver or white pen to write with!

Some Pet Cards

I figured I'd give this posting ahead another try, since I'm currently in Tucson I imagined everyone pining away back in cyberland for another June Renee' creation. Since I have so much fun making cards and I make them faster than occasions for card giving arise, I've been looking for a place to try to sell a few. My first thought was the local Farmer's Market, but that ship pretty much sailed without me due to my preoccupation with a wedding early on in the summer. So, I told myself "next year" and had let the idea drop...then Whitney came home from work and said the vet she works for wanted to have some pet cards at the clinic. And now I'm in "business". Whitney and I sat down and made a few cards one night last week and I'm sharing two of those in this post. Enjoy!

PPA2 - Simple Sketch

Have y'all seen the fun stuff happening over at PPA (Pals Paper Arts)? I have been following the blogs of the girls on the design team for several months and let me tell you they are all awesome!! So, I was very excited when they announced their PPA Challenge site. I didn't get to play along last week because it was a color challenge using the new Stampin ' Up In Colors, which I currently don't own. *sniffle* So, I was happy to see that this week's challenge is a simple sketch and I was excited to whip up this fun birthday card. The only SU products I managed to use were the Happy Birthday sentiment from Something to Celebrate using Bashful Blue ink. My patterned paper is from Making Memories...I love this doublesided Flower Patch series! The butterfly is cut out of the reverse side of the pattern the sentiment is mounted on. Oh, and I can't forget to mention a couple of goodies I used from a CardMaker magazine Card Swaps message board kit swap...the pretty flower is from Ellie & the yellow ribbon is from Teresa. Thanks girls!

Papertake Weekly...Four Seasons

Over at Papertake Weekly they're looking for cards that represent one of the four seasons. I chose this card to represent Spring...yellow is my favorite color and always makes me think of Spring (not my favorite season) and of course I've put a Spring flower on the card using Stampin' Up's Pick a Petal set. Pick a Petal is my absolute favorite stamp set, it is so versatile...not that I think up any creative uses on my own, but I do spend a lot of time looking at the SCS gallery for fun ideas!!

Yes, I could've submitted the previous card for both that challenge and the Simon Says buttons & ribbons challenge this week, but there's a method to my madness (which shall be revealed later...*grin*). For a girl who really does not like green...I have to say, I love this card. I wouldn't have been able to do it without Lori & Lora over at CardMaker magazine Card Swaps message board! The green dragonfly was a part of Lori's swap of card candy and the green buttons came out of a tin of goodies from Lora. The paper is from Stampin' Up's Rainbow Sherbet, my all time favorite DSP. And that darling little gingham ribbon is from TAC's Lily Anna set!

I'm trying out the feature that allows me to post at a later date today! We've gone to Beaver Bend State Park in SE OK for a family weekend arranged by Wayne for everyone we've ever been related to or may ever be related to in the future! OK, so not everyone...but almost! All of our kids will be there, my sister, her husband & two of their three girls, my mom, Wayne's sister & her family, and Wayne's mom. I made this card for Wayne to thank him for all the effort he's put in to planning this so that we can all have fun & relax together!

Card Folder

Last week one of the challenges on the CardMaker magazine Card Swaps message board Christmas in July crop was to create a card holder to give someone a gift of cards. I accepted that challenge and created just the folder to enter the challenge. I spent yesterday afternoon creating a set of six cards, with lined envelopes to coordinate with the folder. I created the cards especially with my sister and her oldest daughter in mind. Bryanna will be leaving for college in just a few short weeks, and my sister is slightly freaking out. I remember this feeling, and the fact that I spent a small fortune on cards when both my girls left for college...I tried to send them a card about once a week, with a little "care package" from home. So, in order to help my sister out with that I made her this set of cards and now when Bry gets a little something from home, she'll also know that Aunt June is thinking about her too!!

I had a pleasant surprise when I logged in to the CardMaker magazine Card Swaps message board this morning! This is a great group of ladies I discovered quite by accident back in April, at that time they were in the middle of a fun crop and I jumped right in and haven't looked back! We just finished another crop, the much acclaimed Christmas in July Crop, last week. It was tons of fun and I have never seen so many amazing projects...it was just an awesome week! Anyway, back to that happy news I discovered this morning...I logged on and found out that I was a random winner of the Joy to the World challenge hosted by Tracy! So, I wanted to share that card with you today. It was a new style card for me called the joy fold...very easy to do, but not something I'd have just up and done on my own. So, I really appreciate the challenges on the message board since I tend to stick in my top fold/side fold 4 1/4" by 5 1/2" rut if I don't have someone "pushing" me to branch out...so thanks to Tracy, I'm a winner and a brancher!! The photo on top shows the card closed and the photo on the bottom shows the card partically open. Oh, and I should probably mention that the stamped image and ribbon I used on this card came from card kits I received in a card swap at the message board. There's just always something fun and exciting happening with the gang at Card Swaps!

Wedding Card

A couple of weeks ago, my friend, Janae, and I got together for an afternoon of card making. I concentrated on making wedding cards for a string of upcoming weddings, while she made a stack of thank you & birthday cards. It was a fun afternoon!

This afternoon we're attending one of those weddings and this is the card I'll be giving the happy couple. I love having that stack and not having to scramble around on an otherwise relaxing Saturday morning to make a card!

I'm jumping in and seeing how I like the water in this blog pool...

I'm going to start out sharing a card I made for a color challenge, the Jewelry Color Inspiration over at Stacey's Stamping Stage. The challenge was to use Night of Navy, Ruby Red, Creamy Caramel & Very Vanilla. As I looked through my supplies, I found this "Spring" sticker in a package from Cosmo Cricket and it called out to me, "I'm Ruby Red & Very Vanilla...pick me, pick me!" So, while this isn't your typical spring color combo, nor is it time to even be thinking about cards for Spring this is what I came up with today all because of a talking sticker!!
